At Fingers and Thumbs Day Care Centre we understand the importance of partnerships with parents.  We respect the fact that parents are the child’s main educators and as such should have the opportunity of being involved in all aspects of their child’s life.  We are happy to spend time to discuss children’s individual needs with parents and will work together to ensure all children meet their potential.  In addition to this regular newsletters are sent out informing parents of the current themes being explored at Fingers and Thumbs and ways in which they can be involved.

We have introduced a ClassDoJo to share daily news and photos of children taking part in our activities with their parents.

Social events and coffee mornings/afternoons are organised throughout the year to meet with each other.  We also organise visits to places of interest for the children linking in with our themes and arrange for visitors to come and talk to the children.  Parents are welcome to join us on any of these occasions.

We are  happy to have parents coming in to help at Fingers and Thumbs on a regular basis or whenever their commitments allow.

'Fingers and Thumbs Day Care Centre is a member of the National Day Nurseries Association'. We are members of the Children and Young People’s Partnership and the Bridgend Childcare Team.  We also work closely with the Foundation Phase Team and have a Support Officer who visits the Playgroup on a regular basis to help us carry out the Welsh Assembly Government’s Foundation Phase Framework.

Fingers and Thumbs works closely with the Access and Inclusion Unit to ensure children with additional needs have their specific needs met.  Full co-operation is given to appropriate agencies working with children and their families whilst respecting the rights of the children and their families at all times.  We follow the National Assembly for Wales Code of Practice for the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs. We are members of the National Autistic Society.

We have been awarded the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme National Award in partnership with the Welsh Government.
