HELPING HANDS ALN CARE
Helping Hands ALN Care is part of Fingers and Thumbs Day Care Centre.  It was formed specifically to help families and children with additional needs to have a safe place to meet with others from similar backgrounds, share experiences and give support to each other.
All sessions need to be booked in advance to ensure we have adequate staffing ratios in place to meet everybody’s needs.  Parents are also required to complete a registration form prior to their children starting at the club and to pass on any relevant information such as Care Plans.
Sessions are as follows:

After School Club
This is open for children aged 3-11 years on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4.30-6.30 p.m. during term times.  Parents are welcome to stay with their children, to join in the fun and to use this as a support group sharing experiences with other parents.  If parents stay sessions cost £6 each and £4 for siblings.  Alternatively children can be left on their own at the group with prior notice at a cost of £10 per session.  Fees may be increased if children need 1:1 or 2:1 care and this will be discussed with parents beforehand.

Activities – Messy Play, Crafts, Small World, Soft Play, Ball Pit, Games table, Wii, ICT, Puzzles, Construction toys, Cookery, Outdoor play in garden, Parachute, Sensory Toys, Music

Saturday Sessions

We are open for children aged 3-11 years on Saturdays from 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. each week during term time.  However, on the first Saturday of the month we will be open until 3.00 p.m.  Parents can choose the hours that suit them to drop their children off with us or to stay and join in the fun with us.  Sessions need to be booked in advance and cost £6 an hour if the child is being left or £3 per hour if parents stay.  If a child requires 1:1 care this will be £10 per hour.

Activities – Messy Play, Crafts, Small World, Soft Play, Ball Pit, Games Table, Wii, ICT, Puzzles, Construction toys,  Sensory  toys, Parachute,  Music

Youth Club

Youth Club is available for young people from 12-19+ years of age on a Thursday from 5.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. during term times.  These sessions cost £10 each.  Our aim is to give the young people an opportunity to learn life skills in a safe, caring environment.  They will be encouraged to prepare and cook their own meals,  clean up after their meal, take part in a savings club, go on trips in the community where they have opportunities to socialise with others and spend money they have saved, learn how to do their hair and make-up and basic social skills.  They will also be able to take part in numerous activities at the club such as crafts, games, outdoor play and ICT.

Holiday Periods
It is hoped that sessions will continue during the school holidays, but these may not be as frequent as during the school term.  Information about holiday sessions will be put up on our facebook page prior to all holidays.

Staffing
Caroline Davies is the Manager of the Club.  She is helped in the day to day running of the club by Jo Stacey, Deputy Manager, Layla Prosser, Toni Gleadhill, Kate Thomas and Jordan Pope.

All staff have undergone training in childcare and additional needs.  They have also received Safeguarding, First Aid and Epilepsy Training.  They are continually up-dating their knowledge and skills training.  However, they would be very grateful if you could share any specific information about your child’s needs with them so that we can all work together to ensure your children have the best possible care and attention while with us.

All staff are undergoing Playwork Level 3 Training this year to meet new guidelines for working in After School and Holiday Clubs.
